In the foreground is an area of darker heavily cattle-trod earth, probably a river bed (Evans-Pritchard was in Anuakland during the beginning of the rainy season), and in the distance numerous huts of an Anuak village can be seen, possibly Pochala or nearby.

Other Information:
The previous electronic catalogue entry relating to numbers EP.AK.1-17 identified the river as Oboth. I have been unable to confirm this information elsewhere, and so have assumed that the images are of the Akobo river, near which Pochala is situated. [Chris Morton 12/12/2003]
