Description:
Women in a stream preparing manioc tubers. Although eleusine was still a staple crop in Evans-Pritchard's time, it was beginning to be displaced to some extent by manioc, a highly drought and pest resistent tuber, which is however somewhat less nutrious than flour produced from grain such as eleusine.
