A group portrait of a man in barkcloth and straw hat (identified as Ngbitimo or Zambaliru) with two of his wives either side of him.
Ngbitimo lived in Prince Rikita's province, and was a friend and informant during Evans-Pritchard's fieldwork among the Azande.

NamedPerson:
Ngbitimo (Zambaliro)
Publication History:
Contemporary Publication - Reproduced as Plate IVb (facing page 46) in E.
E.
Evans-Pritchard's
Witchcraft, Oracles and Magic Among the Azande
(OUP 1937), with the caption "Ngbitimo and two of his wives.
Medicines can be seen growing in the homestead behind him" [CM 11/8/2005]

Notes:
Biographical Information -It seems as though Zambaliru was an alternative name for Ngbitimo.
However, I have followed E-P's published name for this man, who he refers to in at least two places in
Witchcraft, Oracles and Magic Among the Azande
.
For instance on page 343 he states 'When my friend Ngbitimo (see Plate IV), in Rikita's province, incurred the displeasure of his prince...' [CM 11/8/2005]
