Description:
A portrait of an ox with a large hump and forward facing horns standing near to a river at Adok, probably the Nile.
The ox is being led by a tethering rope tied around its horns by a man out of the frame, and nearby can be seen items of baggage.
In contrast to his two earlier fieldwork visits when photographing cattle was viewed suspiciously by the Nuer, Evans-Pritchard took numerous record images of them during his later field trips.
