Description: 
A formal upper body full face portrait of an initiated young man with his hands behind his back, his body smeared with ash. 
The direction of his gaze above the camera is due to the fact that Evans-Pritchard's Rolleiflex camera was positioned at the level of his abdomen, with a top viewer. 
The young man is actually looking towards Evans-Pritchard's head rather than the camera (see 306).
