Description:
An upper body profile portrait of a seated Baka girl wearing a leaf covering front and rear.
In the companion full face image she seems to have been photographed against a sheet marked with metric measurements (visible to the right) for recording height.
This is the only photograph in the collection which shows this anthropometric measurement, but suggests that some of the other images may have originally have been taken to also provide such 'scientific' data.
Buchta made an excursion to the groups west of the Nile in 1879 setting out from Juba on 7th July and returning there on 26th August.
