Dinka procession at Wau

Dinka procession at Wau
90 x 55 mm | Negative film nitrate
Date of Print:
Unknown

Accession Number:
2005.51.157
Description:
A double negative, the upper one having been exposed over the lower after not being wound on sufficently, perhaps due to an unfamilarity on the part of the camera operator, who is not Lienhardt himself since he appears in the crowd in the lower image talking into the ear of a European companion. The onlookers are watching a procession of Dinka youths playing trumpets at a procession at the Roman Catholic mission at Wau, the large church visible in the background.
