In The Life of My Choice (Harper Collins 1987) Thesiger notes (page 261) that 'Wedderburn, as he was always called, had a frank, open face with wide-set eyes, and impressed me at once as friendly and utterly reliable. While we talked, he puffed at his pipe; during my two years with him he always seemed to be lighting it or smoking it. He had now acheived his ambition by being posted to the Western Nuer, and hoped to spend the rest of his service among them.' Chris Morton [21/9/2004]
