Description:
A Mandari homestead in Jarra village with a shrine to the Power Mutia agok in the foreground. Standing in front of a raised hut is the Doctor of Powers called Ako Akurukway, with the homestead head's wife and child and mother standing beside him. The homestead head was the brother of a man called Asek, who had been asked by Ako to set up this shrine some months before when he had fallen ill. The occasion of this photograph was when Buxton had accompanied Ako to visit Asek to continue questioning the Power. Asek, who had become apprenticed to Ako, was delayed by another diagnosis elsewhere, but eventually joined them a day later.
