Description:
A portrait of Jean Buxton's Mandari sergeant, Makelele Nyayo, who was charged with looking after her personal safety, sitting cross-legged on the verandah of a colonial brick building next to a girl wearing beaded neck ornaments. Just behind or to the side of the girl another person gestures a hand into the frame above her head.
