A formal portrait of a seated man in a military uniform of the Anglo-Egyptian Condominium authority (1899-1955), possibly ranking as a sargeant, with five women and two children posing around him, all wearing Mandari ornaments and clothing. Behind them is a large rectilinear thatched building, probably a communal building for soldiers and their dependants. These women may be wives or family members of the soldier living with him at the military post.
