Description:
A three-quarter length portrait of a young man with his hair plastered into a 'horn' with ash, a process carried out in order to tint the hair a reddish colour as well as straighten it. The youth is probably a Gaajok resident of Mancom village where Evans-Pritchard carried out fieldwork in 1935 at the home village of his servant Tiop, whom he had first met in 1931.
