Description:
A close-up image of an ox with cut marks on the top side of its ears. This was probably carried out by a youth on his favourite ox for aesthetically pleasing effects. The byre (luak) of the homestead can be seen beyond, almost certainly at Yakwach camp during Evans-Pritchard's revisit in 1935. In contrast to his two earlier fieldwork visits when photographing cattle was viewed suspiciously by the Nuer, Evans-Pritchard took numerous record images of them during his later field trips.
