Description:
A black ox moving from right to left through rain-sodden grass. Based on the film number, the photograph was taken near Mancom village, the home of Evans-Pritchard's servant Tiop, and where he spent some 4 weeks in the middle of 1935 at the mouth of the Nyanding River among the Gaajok tribe. In contrast to his two earlier fieldwork visits when photographing cattle was viewed suspiciously by the Nuer, Evans-Pritchard took numerous record images of them during his later field trips.
