Description:
A section of a thorntree, with Evans-Pritchard's canvas tent pitched just the other side, visible under the branches. This image seems to have been taken during treks across western Nuerland in 1936. Evans-Pritchard took many photographs of the natural environment to record changes in the pastoral Nilotic economy throughout the annual cycle.
