Description:
A full length portrait of four men, three holding spears and bows and arrows dressed with loin cloths, and one wearing a white Arab-style tunic (gallabiya) and headscarf, identified as a rain-maker. The film number inidicates that this image was taken during Evans-Pritchard's survey among the Moro - rain-makers and rainmaking being a central point of investigation. The identification and description of medicine-men and rain-makers among different groups was an explicit direction given to Evans-Pritchard by C. G. Seligman in compiling the ethnographic survey of the southern Sudan.
