Description:
Looking across a waterlogged marsh in the vicinity of the Bahr-el-Ghazal River. The land either side of this river is flat and without river banks and so becomes flooded quickly in the rains. Evans-Pritchard was based on the river for the early part of his first field trip in 1930, before moving eastwards to Lou country (see 39).
