Description:
An upper-body portrait of an elder male with a staff, holding a gourd vessel in his hands, used to draw water from the pond for the rain-making ritual. During his three-day visit to Jebel Sillok, Bihega (the Aka rain-maker of the hill) showed Evans-Pritchard the three rocks near his hut used in rain-making ritual. When rain was needed Bihega would pour water into one of the small rocks and light a flame in the other, keeping a vigil of seven days beside it, after which he would sprinkle water on the larger stone, calling for rain.
