A group of carriers loading baggage during a break in the day's march across Anuakland. Evans-Pritchard notes that he was able to recruit Anuak porters locally in Akobo at the beginning of the two month expedition in March 1935.

In The Political System of the Anuak of the Anglo-Egyptian Sudan (monographs on Social Anthropology no.4, London School of Economics, 1940) page 3, E. E. Evans-Pritchard notes that 'on the outward journey to Pocala I took the Akobo River route along the Oboth and Agwei.
