Description:
A group of men and boys, the central one identified as Zingbondo wiri Bagbe (i.e. Zingbondo son of Bagbe), with the hilt of a knife visible under his arm. Such knives were a symbol of status as a chief's deputy, an office carried out by Zingbondo as well as his father Bagbe, in Prince Rikita's court.

Other Information:
In Witchcraft, Oracles and Magic Among the Azande (OUP 1937, page viii) E. E. Evans-Pritchard gives Zingbondo as an additional name of Mekana, his Zande servant. There may therefore be some kin relation between Mekana, who was a son of the courtier Ongosi, and the Zingbondo of this image, who is a son of Bagbe.
