A view across an eleusine cultivation with trees in the background. Such areas of planting were sometimes a considerable distance from the homestead after a number of shifts due to fertility. Such areas were used in addition to small areas or gardens (ati) planted adjacent to compounds (kporo).

Other Information:
Although the film number for this image is recorded in the handlist as 16 it looks more like 91 on both negative and print reverse to me. This number also fits the other range from the 47/3 series much better. [Chris Morton 5/11/2003]
