In The Azande (OUP, 1971, page 2-11) E. E. Evans-Pritchard notes that "I instructed my clerk Reuben Rikita, to take, during my absences in England in 1929 and 1930, as broad a census as he could of the adult males in the old kingdoms of Gbudwe, Ezo and Tembura...[p]erhaps also, my clerk, being himself a noble [i.e. Avongara], had a greater interest to record membership of his clan than of commoner clans."
