Description:
A view across a spatious homestead organised around a central courtyard. In the centre of the frame is a raised granary with several people sitting in its shade. Just beyond are two enormous shrine posts with a forked post adjacent, a man leaning on arm over it as he talks to a woman opposite him. The huts beyond have thatches that extend low over the walls, almost touching the earth, with small door apertures. Buchta made an excursion to the groups west of the Nile in 1879 setting out from Juba on 7th July and returning there on 26th August.
