Description:
Penannular bracelet made from a narrow brass band with rectangular section, bent into an oval loop with open ends, 21 mm apart. The ends have been cut flat. The outer face is decorated with an incised design that extends around the entire circumference, comprising two parallel lines with crosshatching between, which changes at the centre of the band to a row of three crosshatched triangles. There is a short stretch of hatching between the upper framing line and the outside edge along this part only. The object is complete and intact, with a polished metallic yellow surface (Pantone 872C). The length across the outside edges of the bracelet is 58.1 mm, the width across is 53.4 mm, while the length across the inner edges is 53 mm. The band itself is 7.7 mm wide and 2 mm thick, with a weight of 21.4 grams.

Collected by Percy Horace Gordon Powell-Cotton and his wife Hannah at Yambio on 27th April 1933, during a shooting expedition. This type of armlet was worn by women; they did not record its local name.

This object is currently on display in the Lower Gallery, case 111A.
