Description:
A Mandari Köbora man at a dry-season cattle camp standing next to a display ox (sönö) with large upward curving horns. The youth has marked his own forehead with two white lines mimicking the form of these horns. The image suggests that Buxton is attempting to visually demonstrate the bovine influence at the heart of Nilotic cattle-keeping aesthetics and body art. The fact that he is not wearing any rem waist beads, a common practice among young Köbora men, may suggest that he is married.
