Description:
A full length portrait of a Mandari youth smeared with ash standing next to a lagoon, wearing numerous strings of rem waist beads [top of another exposure including heads of three youths at base of negative]. Among the Mandari Köbora the rem beads did not have the same age grade associations as with those Mandari living around Tali. Partially visible to right of frame are a deck chair and table with a table cloth and bottles on it, presumably set up by Buxton for a meal, possibly since she was in the company of a member of the administration.

Other Information:
Although this negative contains a second (very) partial exposure, I have decided not to give it a separate number, since it does not contain a significant enough amount of content to warrant it. [Chris Morton 25/1/2005]
