Description:
A close-up of a light coloured ox with a large hump standing in grazing land. Based upon film numbers this image was probably taken among the Gaajok at Mancom where Evans-Pritchard spent some four weeks at the home of his servant Tiop, who he first met in 1931. In contrast to his two earlier fieldwork visits when photographing cattle was viewed suspiciously by the Nuer, Evans-Pritchard took numerous record images of them during his later field trips.
