Description:
An upper body portrait of a youth with feather stuck in his hair and large earring, his head turned away from the camera.
The youth is holding a club under his right arm and holds several sticks with the left.
The youth is identified in another image as belonging to the Jikul lineage or clan, which is not associated with one tribal territory, but which was a significant lineage around Nyueny and surrounding villages in Leek country, but also elsewhere such as Western Jikany.

Edward Evan Evans-Pritchard
Date of Photo:
1936 October - November
Region:
[Southern Sudan] Wahda ?Nyueny village

Notes:
There would seem to be two Rolleiflex films identified as no.
5 in the Nuer series, which I have identified based upon differences in the handwritten style of enumerating the number 5 on the print reverses, as well as on visual content.
