Description:
Two initiated youths stand to the right of the frame looking at the camera, with a lantern on a stake visible just beyond near an ox being led by another youth, near the river landing stage, where a river steamer is moored. Evans-Pritchard arrived on 1st October 1936 after making a survey of the Luo of Kenya. He then moved on to spend most of his time among the Leek.
