Description:
A knot tied in a bunch of grass by the wayside, by an individual wishing for good fortune on a journey.
The film number of this photograph strongly suggests a Zandeland location.
The practice of tying a knot in grass for fortune when travelling was common among the Nuer, and may have been a widespread cultural practice in the region.
