A large heap of earth near a settlement which is visible beyond.
The heap has been placed over a wooden structure which sticks through it along the sides, and has a forked branch placed near the front, with earth on top of ?thatching grass.
This suggests that Zande custom of constructing a hut over a grave before making an earthern heap, later replaced by a stone one at a mortuary ceremony.
